Today, we’re a mill direct supplier of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, fiber and plastics offering two convenient recycling facilities to serve you in Forest View, IL and Joliet, IL.

B.L. Duke, Inc, is seeking a full-time Driver to join our team. The Driver will take an active role in the organization within the Trucking Department. The Driver will report to the Dispatch Manager. Position is located at our Joliet Facility.

  • Local route hauling to deliver goods to customers.
  • Load and unload cargo, record cargo delivered, and keep an activity log.
  • Work safely within route navigation system during transport.
  • Checking the load frequently for hazards during transporting and making necessary adjustment when needed.
  • Refuel and clean vehicle.
  • Ensuring compliance with Federal and State Laws – report all road incidents to the dispatcher immediately.
  • Inspect trucks for mechanical items, safety issues, perform preventive maintenance.
  • Report mechanical problems to Dispatch Manager immediately upon discovery.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designation, parking and break periods) as well as with the company policies and procedures.
  • Detecting and eliminating safety hazards before, during and after transport.
  • Keep commercial driver license and medical card up to date.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a valid class A CDL, with at least 1 year of driving experience.
  • Prior roll-off/flatbed experience is required.
  • Gondola and lugger experience highly preferred.
  • Experience working within GPS routing systems.
  • Good communication, problem-solving skills and ability to follow written and oral instructions and are required.
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • CDL A OR Commercial driver license. Must have a clean driving record. Willingness to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment history.
  • Knowledge of applicable DOT regulations, OSHA compliance and industry preferred.

Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Our EHS Manager models and supports BL Duke’s commitment to sustaining a safe, health and positive environment for our employees, customers, and community. Under limited supervision, this position responsible for all EHS initiatives and compliance providing excellence in risk management while professionally and ethically representing our business both in house and within the community.

  • Assess, prioritize, lead and support in development, implementation, analysis, etc. of all EHS policies, procedures, requirements and initiatives.
  • Monitors and positively supports improvements to ensure safe production processes
  • Improve, maintain, organize and administer all employee training (i.e. orientation, OSHA Reg, site specific safeguards, etc.) in accordance with safety policies and OSHA & DOT regulation guidelines.
  • Monitors and updates training, policies, and corrective action plans to ensure proper documentation ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Lead, assist, support and or advise facility activities with respect to EHS policies with city, county, state and federal regulations and regulatory entities.
  • Assist, support, and advise with respect to proper investigation and reporting of accidents to include but not limited to “near miss”, property damage, first aid, OSHA recordable and OSHA lost time.
  • Assist in managing Workers Compensation Claims and preventative action
  • Organize, conduct and follow up of Safety Committee and meetings.
  • Assist Area Supervisors and Safety Committee in development of corrective actions for identified hazards, to include but not limited to implementation, tracking and follow up.
  • Assist and support developing initiatives that will help motivate cultivate the entire safety culture.
  • Monitor and assist Area Supervisors and Safety Committee with analysis with respect to safety initiatives and how it affects the overall safety performance of the facility, providing and allowing feedback from facility Management.
  • Maintain business related individual licenses, permits, certifications to ensure that required certifications, training and licenses are up-to-date.
  • Assist and support in maintaining human resource best management practices
  • 2 Years of EHS experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA, DOT, & EHS Compliance Laws
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent time management skills written/verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and be versatile
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules and to promote safety standards
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb and stand or be seated for extended periods working in all types of weather conditions
